Dear Friends,
At a time management seminar I was at several years ago, the instructor asked the audience to imagine there was a 140- foot I-beam on the floor, a construction I-beam nine inches wide and nine inches tall. He said to imagine he was standing on one end of the I-beam, and he has a hundred dollars. He asked, “Who will walk across the I-beam to get it?” Everyone in the room raised their hand. Then he said, “Let’s change the scenario a little bit. There are two buildings a hundred stories high. Now, let’s hook this 140 foot I-beam to a cable on a helicopter, and let’s drop it between the two buildings, which are 138 feet apart. You’ve got a one foot overhang on each side. I’m standing on one side with a thousand dollar bill. Who would walk across and get it?” No one raised their hand this time.
He goes on, “Let’s change this scenario a little bit more. It has started to sleet now and the wind is blowing a little bit and I have $5,000.00. Who will walk across and get it?” No hands went up. He turned to a lady in the third row, and asked her if she had any children. She said that she had a two-year-old daughter. He said, ‘What if I had your two-year-old hanging her over the side of that building. Would you walk across that I-beam to get her?” The lady said, “I’d run across that I-beam to get her.”
So I would like to ask each of you a couple questions. What is it in your life that you would walk across that I-beam for? What are the things you love the most and are willing to risk your life for? What Jesus loved the most was you and me. He was all in for us; He walked across that I-beam. He gave his life on a cross so we could escape the worst, sin and death, and so we could find the best life now and forever. He was all in for you and me. Are you all in for Him? Would you walk across that I-beam to have the heart of Jesus? It is something to think about.
Peace,
Robb
